Mike and Doug Starn, Big Bambu, 2011

A 50-foot tall hollow tower of bamboo, with a trail spiraling up to the top reaching a 20-foot wide rooftop. The Starns and their crew of rock climbers built as they climbed, sustaining the spiral upward until the closing day of the installation. The idea behind Big Bambu was “the continual evolution of living things”.
